The seven mammalian channels from the classical (TRPC) subfamily of transient receptor
potential (TRP) channels are thought to be receptor-operated cation channels activated in a
phospholipase C (PLC)-dependent manner. Based on sequence similarity, TRPC channels
can be divided into four subgroups. Group 4 comprises TRPC4 and TRPC5, and is most
