Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an increasingly recognized condition that may
progress to end-stage liver disease. It is characterized by its association with obesity,
diabetes, and hyperdyslipidemia. NAFLD refers to the wide spectrum of liver damage that
ranges from simple steatosis to steatohepatitis, advanced fibrosis, and cirrhosis [1–4]. As
